Surprise, Surprise

Last Friday Ellie and I hopped on the Megabus and headed down to Chicago for the weekend.  It was my best friend's 18th birthday on Saturday and we had a grand plan of surprising her.  We'd been counting down the days for over a month and finally the day came.  After about 8 hours in the bus we arrived on the bustling streets of Chicago where her dad picked us up and drove us to the house.  "Just walk right in, they're sitting at the kitchen table.  They don't expect a thing" he told us and so we jumped out of the van all excited and walked in the door.  We were greeted with stares and silence for a few seconds and then screams of excitement and "what are you doing here?!?" Our plan was perfectly executed.

The following days were filled with baking cinnamon rolls and muffins, eating whole batches of chocolate chip cookie dough, playing Masterpiece and Qwirkle, shopping at the mall, blowing bubbles, heart-to-hearts, filming an upcoming music video, fangirling over British actors, singing Les Mis at the top of our lungs, and laughing until our sides ached.  We made so many memories in just three days as to make up for all the rest of the year when we're not together.

Oh, and that last photo is a sneak peak for our next music video.  It may just be my favorite one yet.

  1. Sounds like an amazing time.
And what you did sounds eerily similar to what my friends and I do...especially the last three!
