All is Silent

The sunlight slowly slips away,
The clock ticking methodically on into the night.
The flowers on the table begin to wilt
Their last day is drawing to a close.
It is almost night now.
Flickering flames try to lick away the darkness
But no one is there to see their valiant attempt.
The curtains rustle
A cool breeze brushes by
One candle goes out.
The sun sinks lower, closing his eyes
And the moon relieves his watch.
The stars dance across the heavens
Mother Moon stands smiling by.

The clock chimes ten.
The house sleeps.
The house dreams.
All is silent.
