Starved Rock

In discussing what kinds of vacations we want to be a part of our life and what kind of traditions might be fun to start for our new family, Nick and I decided to visit a different state every year, with the intention of having visited all 50 states when we reach 50 years of marriage. Some of the states will be easy ones (the ones we live in, have family in, etc), some will be more difficult (Hawaii, for instance), but we're looking forward to the many adventures we'll get to go on. This year we only had a weekend to take for vacation, so we decided on a state close to home. Both of us had been to Starved Rock State Park in IL when we were younger, and we thought it would be fun to visit it again together. It was a very hot June day, and the baby took a big bite out of my stamina so that we couldn't do nearly as long of a hike as we could have if I wasn't pregnant, but it was a fun trip nonetheless. I can't wait to see what trip next year will bring!
